Director: Thupten Dolkar
Dolkar is a Buddhist nun, from The Netherlands. In 1999, after her first visit to India and Nepal, she began the first project, a school in Nagarkot, Nepal. This led, in 2001, to the establishment of the Tara Foundation, which now has 5 projects up and running in India, Nepal, and Tibet and is still developing.
The 5 projects are:
- The school in Nagarkot, Nepal
- Sick & disabled children in Bihar, India
- Tibetan refugees (monks and nuns) in India and Nepal
- Help in Tibet (Drak War monastery)
- The preservation of Dharma texts | |  |
Dolkar spends part of each year in India and Nepal, mainly in the monasteries. She is in close contact with each of the projects and visits them personally, to discover, as far as possible, exactly what is necessary for the projects to develop successfully.
It goes without saying that she covers these travel costs herself, not through the Tara Foundation, as all donations made to the Tara Foundation go directly to the projects themselves.

Secretary: Nico Sloeserwij
Nico has been involved in the setting up of the Tara
Foundation from the very beginning. As secretary, he
is in charge of the foundation when Dolkar is travelling
in India & Nepal, or on retreat.

Treasurer: Marianne Carstens.
As well as being treasurer, Marianne has been involved for
a long time in sponsoring Tibetan refugee children from in
Nepal and India.
Anne Nikkels.
Anne helps with the Tibetan refugee Project and the School Project.
She has been involved in the sponsoring of Tibetan child refugees in the TVC childrens villages in India.
Aly Schuurhuis.
Aly she helps mainly with the School Project . She.has also been involved in a school and working with disabled children for some time.
